Charles Dickens' holiday classic is brought to radio-theatrical life by Raconteur Radio
Join us as Raconteur Radio performs A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This staged radio play tells the tale of a misanthropic pinchpenny named Ebenezer Scrooge and his idealogical, ethical, and emotional transformation after the supernatural visits of Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.
The production includes period costumes, Victorian carols, theatrical lighting, period lighting, sound effects, Golden Age radio equipment, and vintage commercials. A radio play or audio narrative, what some call an "ear movie," is a story told through dialogue, sound effects, and music. Raconteur Radio adds costumes, colored spots, a fatboy Elvis mic, and, sometimes, a fog machine and/or strobe light.
The case will feature Shawna Lagan, Carlyle Owens, and Michael Jarmus (as everyone's favorite crank). With Alex Dawson.
Raconteur Radio, based in Metuchen, creates the feel of a 1930s radio play with their shows. This free program, geared for adults, but suitable for children ages 10 and older, is sponsored by the Friends of the Roxbury Public Library.
