Currently based in Northern New Jersey, Perry Dale “PD” Brody has been a fixture in the local music scene since 2014, playing the bar/restaurants and small music venues multiple nights a week while also touring the country and writing original material along the way. Dubbed the “Tri-state Troubadour” by some peers, Brody ventures away from his home base to play shows. “Have car, will travel,” says Brody. A conglomerate of rock, pop, country, and blues, Brody’s stylings have been compared to Jeffrey Gaines, Zac Brown, Jason Mraz, Dermot Kennedy, the vocal timbre of Tracy Chapman, and his musical idol, Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty.
Perhaps an even greater influence, musically and personally, his late father Don Brody, a successful musician and songwriter in his own right. “I remember seeing my father on stage [at Hoboken Arts and Music Fest] when I was small, and I always thought that was so cool and I wanted to do that when I grew up,” Brody remembers. When not on the road or playing shows, Brody is an elementary school teacher by day. “It balances me out,” Brody explains. “I feel like I have a purpose outside of music. It’s a challenge, but I enjoy the grind!... ‘Mr. Brody’ by day, PD Brody by night… much like Superman, just need a phone booth to change!” While developing as an educator, Brody is working on his next release. “I’m hoping for a full length album, might be an EP…just depends on the budget. I have some great fans and venues that support me. It’ll be worth the wait, I promise!”
