Drumming offers the opportunity to come together as a community in a fun and interactive way. Drum circles facilitate a state of deep relaxation, joy and a sense of well-being. In addition to learning rhythms, participants will develop tools to encourage social interaction.
No prior experience is needed to attend. This program gets you started with all the basics necessary to play and participate in community drum circles and will strengthen the skill level for those familiar with drumming.
We will give members an overview of the core concepts including:
• How to position and hold the drum
• Notes, practice rhythms and traditional African rhythms
• Call and response, developing listening skills
• Rhythmic games
• Much more!
Only those registered are guaranteed a spot in the circle. If a family, please register total number attending. This circle is limited to 35 participants -- adults, seniors, teens and anyone age 6 and up. If you have your own drum, please bring it! If not, a drum or percussion instrument will be provided.
