“Medicare Annual Enrollment” is from October 15 to December 7 each year. This program will review Medicare Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Advantage Plans to assist people in making decisions for Medicare Health Insurance in 2026. Including an awareness of NJ SAVE.
This programs is being provided by Morris County State Health Insurance assistance Program (SHIP) a program of Norwescap a non-profit agency dedicated to helping the community. SHIP medicare counselors do not provide legal advise, sell, recommend, endorse any specific insurance product, agent, insurance company or plan. They provide information and assistance so that medicare enrollees can make their own decision.
SHIP is a statewide program administered by the NJ Department of Human Service.
About the Presenters: Denise Williams and Maureen Scahill (November 18 Presentation) serve as SHIP Medicare Counselors in the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. A Federal Government Program under the leadership of NORWESCAP (Northwest New Jersey Community Action Partnership), a noted and well-established social service organization. Denise Williams’ prior experience has prepared her well as a counselor, and it has provided her with a diverse background that helps her to relate to her clients. Her previous experience includes:

Carol Shanik RNC, MS, MPH (November 11 presentation) holds a BS in Nursing from Syracuse University and an MS in Maternal Child Health Nursing from Boston University. Her clinical experience spans pediatrics, pediatric and neonatal intensive care, and obstetrics, including delivery room, antenatal, and postnatal care. She maintains certification in Inpatient Obstetrics. Carol has taught in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, including Cornell and Columbia University, where she earned an MPH in Health Policy and Administration. Her interest in health insurance led to certification as a Medicare Counselor. For the past 10 years, she volunteers at MMC, assisting patients and staff with Medicare-related issues.
