Learn to use Reference Solutions (free access w/ your Library card) to target specific groups of businesses or individuals who may most likely be interested in your business's products or services.

Learn how to use the Reference Solutions U.S. Business and Consumer Modules to target specific groups of businesses or individuals who may most likely be interested in your business's products or services. In this training, you will learn how to identify the ideal geography of potential new customers, learn key contacts, research competitors, identify sales leads, marketing intelligence, key elements to include in a business plan, and more.

Get access to business, residential and health directories all in one place. Search listings by name, geographic area and other criteria, such as new homeowners, physicians and dentists, or business type. Users can also view a vast directory of job listings by location or title.

This workshop is presented in partnership with Data-Axle. Data-Axle's Reference Solutions databases feature detailed information on businesses and households in the United States and Canada. Access the Reference Solutions from anywhere with your Roxbury Library library card number and PIN. Don't have a card? Get one here.

Bill Carlson with Reference Solutions will demonstrate how to access this powerful business database to target new customers, research competitors, and develop and grow a client list -- all for free using your Roxbury Public Library (or any New Jersey Library) card. Reference Solutions helps library users create effective marketing plans, conduct essential competitive analysis, raise funds and locate people in order to expand & grow their book of business. The online database provides real-time access to more than 44 million businesses and 270 million consumers.

In the session you will learn:

About the Presenter: Bill Carlson has been with Data-Axle|Reference Solutions since April of 2008. Responsibilities include ensuring that users are getting the most from Reference Solutions. Prior to joining Data-Axle, Bill managed a team of more than 20 salespeople at publicly traded company, where he stressed the value of providing world-class customer service. An avid sportsman and naturalist, Bill has also owned and operated his own business which incorporated his interest in the outdoors.

This program is a part of the ongoing Business Beyond Basics series.  Business Beyond Basics provides continuing education programs that bring businesses and the community together to network, learn and advance.  Produced jointly by Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce and Roxbury Public Library.

The Roxbury Township Public Library is a municipal library serving the communities of Succasunna, Ledgewood, Landing, Berkshire Valley, Port Morris, and Kenvil. Residents of the township are eligible to a free library card which enables access to 2.8 million items across the Morris County library consortium including digital books, museum passes and more.
