Session One on Friday, June 9: Hear about the history of lace and the different types of lace, with a focus on torchon lace and lace equipment. Demonstration by Lost Art Lacers of North Jersey and a hands-on workshop starting a basic project with the two moves common to all laces. Finishing the project will be done at Session Two.
Session Two in Friday, July 7: Continuation of hands-on workshop — gain experience by finishing your make-it and take-it project.
About the Lost Art Lacers of North Jersey: Founded in 1976, the Lost Art Lacers of North Jersey is an organization of lacemakers and lace enthusiasts based in Northwest New Jersey. Their purpose is to preserve the art and craft of lacemaking, to stimulate interest in and appreciation for all facets of the history, the art and craft of lacemaking. Meetings are held in Newton, NJ, usually on a Saturday afternoon each month, September through May. Workshops and other fun events are held June, July and August.
