This year, Medicare's annual Open Enrollment period is October 15 through December 7.
Did you know that every year during Medicare Annual Open Enrollment you should review your current Medicare coverage to make sure your plan is still meeting your needs? Are you confused about what you should do during Annual Open Enrollment? Medicare health and drug plan companies can make changes to your plan each year—things like cost, coverage, and what providers and pharmacies are in their networks. Sometimes these changes can have a negative affect on your coverage. Learn how to review your coverage and make any changes necessary to be assured your Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage meet your needs for the following year.
Join us for an informative and informal presentation where we will chat about Medicare. Let the NORWESCAP SHIP Counselors take you from confusion to clarity in 60 minutes. The presentation will give you a basic overview of Medicare. It will also inform you as to what changes can be made during Annual Open Enrollment, how to make those changes, and provide various informational resources to help you with your decision.
About the Presenters: Denise Williams and Maureen Scahill serve as SHIP Medicare Counselors in the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. A Federal Government Program under the leadership of NORWESCAP (Northwest New Jersey Community Action Partnership), a noted and well-established social service organization.
Denise Williams’ prior experience has prepared her well as a counselor, and it has provided her with a diverse background that helps her to relate to her clients. Her previous experience includes:
- Trained Medicare Counselor for 6 years
- 26 years as a schoolteacher
- 7 years as a proprietor of a retail establishment
- 11 years as a Financial Analyst with Nabisco Bakeries
- Continuing service as an AARP Senior Planet Volunteer
In addition to being a trained SHIP Medicare Counselor for the past 6 years, Maureen Scahill’s experience includes:
- 20 years as a classroom teacher
- 14 years as a Long Term Disability Insurance Underwriter
The function of a SHIP Medicare Counselor is to educate people about Medicare options and to equip them to make knowledgeable choices about Medicare offerings. A consultation with a SHIP Medicare Counselor will enable you to acquire the information needed to take you from confusion to clarity in 60 minutes. The discussion will provide you with the tools to choose the best Medicare coverage to meet your needs.
