Starting Monday, August 10th the library will reopen to the public in a limited fashion. Services are by appointment only. For details, please see the instructions below. Contactless pickup in the driveway remains available, and we ask that you continue to return all materials to the outside bookdrops. Since capacity is so limited, we ask that you be considerate of your fellow community members and limit your time inside the library as needed.
We strongly encourage people to continue to place holds in our catalog and contact us via phone or on our wesbite for contactless pickup in the driveway. However, if you choose to visit us in person, we ask that you adhere to these guidelines, for the safety of all:
1. face masks must be worn at all times in compliance with Executive Order 157
2. social distancing should be maintained: at least six feet apart
3. hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance and must be used upon entering
4. meeting rooms are not available
5. lingering is discouraged, please keep your visit as short as reasonably possible.
Book your next visit below. You can also call to make an appointment at 973-584-2400. Appointments will be at the top of every hour (eg: 10:00-10:45 AM).
Please arrive promptly, because of the extreme capacity limits, appointments will not be extended.
A staff member will check you in when it’s time to browse.
Browsing will be limited to 45 minute appointments, once per day. Staff will be available to help you find items and make suggestions when materials you want are not available. When the time is up, you will be directed to check out materials at the front desk only.
Do you need more time? Make another appointment!
At the :45 minute mark, we will require every patron (except those in a passport appt) to leave the premises. Staff will then disinfect the building before the next cohort comes in.
Please, please, please, please follow these instructions to make the process run smoothly. We miss every single one of you. We miss helping you, talking with you, teaching you (and learning from you). Everything we are doing is meant to prioritize both your health & well-being AND our staff's. We know things suck right now. We wish we could open our doors wide and crowd every room like before. But we can't do that yet. Please do not take your frustration with the world out on us. We're doing our best to make lemonade out of some very sour lemons...
