You'll learn about the tools of the trade, how to prep your nib, hold the pen, and build comfort through calming drills and doodles. We'll focus on foundational strokes that form the basis of calligraphy letters, and as time allows, begin exploring lowercase Copperplate letterforms.
Class is offered to adults. Young people 12 and up may participate. Class size is limited and your spot is reserved when you pay your $5 fee. Come with a steady hand and open mind!
About the Presenter: Michelle Schutz is a Roxbury resident, library regular, and after-hours calligrapher who fell in love with dip pen calligraphy in 2018. She lives with her husband, two children, and golden retriever. By day she works as an engineer, but in her free time she enjoys the calming rhythm of working with nib and ink and is excited to share the joy that calligraphy brings.
