1:00pm - 4:00pm
Roxbury Public Library
Large Meeting RoomAll are welcome to learn and play Mah Jongg.
Online registration is open to Roxbury library card holders. For all others, drop-in play is based on space.
Attendance is limited to 32 attendees.
All Are Welcome. Mah Jongg at Roxbury Library is open to the public. Players may not reserve tables exclusively for private groups.
Be Welcoming. Treat fellow players, volunteers, and library staff with courtesy and respect. Help create a friendly environment for everyone.
Tables Seat Four. Each table is limited to four active players. Players may rotate or form new tables as needed.
No Saved Seats. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not hold seats for players who have not yet arrived.
Tickets. For players who have not registered with a Roxbury library card, they will be issued beginning at 10am for the same day’s session at 1pm. Go to the Library Front Desk to sign up and receive your ticket. One must come to the desk in person to receive a ticket. A ticket guarantees you one space at a table as long as you are there at 1pm. You may not sign up another individual.
Mix and Mingle. Players are encouraged to play with different people and welcome newcomers into games.
Know the Game. This is an open-play session, not a class. Beginners should have a basic understanding of Mah Jongg before joining regular play.
Play Friendly. Friendly competition is encouraged; arguing, criticizing another player's skill level, or unsportsmanlike behavior is not.
No Gambling. Money, wagering, or other gambling is not permitted.
Respect the Schedule. Play begins and ends at the designated time. Please finish your current hand and clean up promptly when the session ends.
Take Care of the Space. Keep food and beverages away from library-owned game materials and leave tables and chairs tidy.
Library Staff Have Final Say. Concerns should be brought to library staff. Staff may address disruptive behavior, disputes, or repeated violations of these House Rules. Volunteer coordinators help facilitate play but do not set Library policy or resolve serious conflicts; concerns should be referred to Library staff.
