Celebrate Hispanic Heritage month by creating your own Alebrijes!
Alebrijes are vibrant, fantastical Mexican folk art sculptures, typically made from papier-mâché or wood, depicting imaginary or mixed-animal creatures. We are going to create our own Alebijies based on different characteristics of ourselves.
Here are some examples:
Jaguar: Represents power and strength.
Eagle: Symbolizes power and vision.
Serpent: Represents power and wisdom.
Dog: Signifies loyalty, protection, and guardianship.
Cat: Represents independence and freedom.
Dragon: Symbolizes leadership, vitality, and passion.
Butterfly: Represents movement and transformation.
Rabbit: Symbolizes fertility and the lunar cycle.
Coyote: Represents intelligence, cunning, and adaptability.
Owl: Symbolizes wisdom and healing.
After you draw your own Alebrijes, you will ink and color it.
